华长卿是晚清时期天津的著名诗人、学者,博通经籍,精于史例,著《唐宋阳秋》五卷,以编年体的形式重塑五代正统。该书的撰述以前代学者有关五代正统的论说与部分史学实践为基础,其纪年先延续天佑年号,再以后唐、南唐继之,最终过渡到北宋;其书法予夺褒贬,阐发唐宋相续之义;但其叙事并不过分拘泥《春秋》笔法,在《资治通鉴纲目》后六卷与《续资治通鉴纲目》前二卷之纲的基础上笔削增改,可谓事、义兼备。总之,《唐宋阳秋》虽以更改正统为首要宗旨,却也于编纂和叙事方面取得一定成就,丰富了唐宋间历史的表述方式,在五代史学界应有一席之地。

Hua Changqing is a famous poet and scholar of Tianjin in the late Qing Dynasty,who has full knowledge of Confucian classics and historical styles.He compiles Spring And Autumn Annals of Tang And Song,which remolds the legitimate succession of the Five Dynasty in annalistic style.The compilation of this book is based on the comments of the previous scholars and some historical practices about the orthodox theories of the Five Dynasty,by which it continues the Tang’s title of Tianyou and the following titles of Later Tang,Southern Tang and Song finally.The style of writing history is used to praise or censure historical figures and explain historic significance between Tang and Song.However,Hua is not a stickler for the style of writing of The Spring and Autumn Annals.The outline of the final six volumes of The Detailed Outline Comprehensive Mirror For Aid In Government and the fist two volumes of its continuation is the bottom that he revises.Narrative is both clear in the account of events and significant in history justice.In short,although this book is compiled to remolds the legitimate succession,it makes a certain achievement in compilation and narrative,and enriches the representation approach of Five Dynasty,which makes it gain a place in the historical field of Five Dynasty.
