“Life Up”:Beliefs in the Love Outlook of New Women——Ms. Shafei’s Diary and Others from the Perspective of Social History

浪漫爱的出现是民国时期的一个重要社会现象,曾引起知识界、舆论界的广泛讨论与实践,对于新女性来说尤甚。本文从社会史视角入手,通过探讨女作家丁玲在《莎菲女士的日记》这篇女性主义经典文本中的爱情观念,及其个人情感经历中追求精神性爱情的努力,试图考察新女性爱情观中身体、新世界与信仰三个层面的内涵。爱情之于新女性,同时唤起了她们有关身体的欲望、对新世界的渴望以及对于崇高精神的向往。而三者之中,对于崇高精神的向往是爱情能否成立的决定性因素。也正因此,"爱情"必然是超出一般的日常生活范围、指向更具精神性与抽象性的信仰式存在。

The emergence of romantic love is an important social phenomenon in the period of the Republic of China, which has caused extensive discussion and practice in the intellectual and public opinion circles, especially for the new women. From the perspective of social history, this article explores the concept of love in the classic text of feminist literature by Ding Ling, Ms. Sha Fei’s Diary, and her personal emotional experience in seeking spiritual love.And it finds the three meanings of the love of the new women — the body, the new world, and the belief. Love evokes the new women’s desire for the body,their desire for the new world, and their longing for the noble spirit at the same time. Among these three, the longing for the noble spirit is the decisive factor for the establishment of love. Because of this,"love"must be beyond the ordinary scope of daily life and point to a more spiritual and abstract belief-type existence.
