An urban village,in its narrow sense, refers to a cluster of rural settlements in cities formed by rapidly developing urban areas surrounding rural residential lands after farmlands are taken away by the government.Nowadays,it is commonly understood as low-income communities in cities with development lagging behind compared to that of surrounding areas and lack of public facilities.
