The Function of Funeral Rituals of Blang Ethnic Group in Zhanglang Village

云南勐海县章朗村布朗族的丧葬仪式包括举行思曼仪式、佛爷念经、妇女在送葬队伍前扫路、按性别和年龄分别安葬于公共墓地、进行栓线仪式及滴水仪式等过程,呈现出鲜明的民族与地域特色,具有增强家族和民族凝聚力、维护社会和谐、强化敬老观念及性别相对平等观念、保护生态环境等功能。

Funeral rituals of the Blang ethnic group in Zhanglang village include Siman ceremonial,the monk reciting sutras,women sweeping road before the funeral procession,burying the death according to sex and age in clan cemetery,binding cotton thread in people’s wrist and dripping water ceremony and so on.The funeral rituals present the distinct ethnic character and local features,which can strengthen the family and ethnic cohesion,maintain social harmony,reinforce the concept of respecting for the elderly and women,and protect the local ecological environment.
