胡佛档案馆所藏涉藏档案资料及其学术价值

Archival Materials in the Hoover Institution Archives’Collection and their Scholarly Value

斯坦福大学胡佛研究所及其下设的胡佛档案馆,收藏有相当数量的中英文涉藏档案资料。中文档案资料中具有独特价值者,当首推“蒋介石日记”,宋子文档案中也保存有若干涉藏资料。英文档案资料中,则以古德费洛和贺百克二人名下者较有价值,保存了1942-1943年美国军方人员伊利亚·托尔斯泰和布鲁克·多兰访问西藏拉萨的相关文件和西藏当局致罗斯福总统回礼的图片及说明。此外,柯乐博的个人档案中也有部分涉藏内容。利用这些档案资料,可以深入研究20世纪四五十年代的西藏历史。

The Hoover Institution Archives at Stanford University hold a considerable number of archival materials concerning Tibet in both Chinese and English.Among the Chinese-language archival materials,the most valuable are the Chiang Kai-shek Diaries and the Song Tzu-wen Archives.Among the English language ar⁃chival materials,those under the names of Goodfellow and Herbeck are of greater value with their documents re⁃lated to the visit of U.S.military officers Ilya Tolstoy and Brooke Dolan to Lhasa,Tibet from 1942 to 1943,as well as pictures and descriptions of the return gifts from the Tibetan authorities to President Roosevelt.In addi⁃tion,some of Oliver Edmund Clubb’s personal files also contain Tibet-related content.
