Herder’s Paradigm Shift: from Cognition to Hermeneutics

心和脑各就其位、各司其职,即理智与情感合二而一是赫尔德哲学的基本设定,也是其整全人的标准。他用三个维度来分解其设定和标准:诗性维度、历史性维度和哲学维度。这三个维度相互勾连、相互渗透,形成了其实在的基本图式。赫尔德的主张不仅平衡了理性和感性之间的对立,而且通过语言学转向、人类学转向和诠释学转向,完成了其哲学从认知向诠释范式的转换,为德国早期诠释学、当代诠释学和语言哲学的发展做出了独特贡献。

The mind and body each in its own place and responsible for its own function, the fusion of the intellect and sensibility is the fundamental philosophical configuration of Herder. This is also his criteria of the whole person. Accordingly, he presented his configuration and criteria with three dimensions: the poetic, the historic and the philosophical. The interconnection and interwoven of three dimensions forms Herder’s schema of reality. Besides, Herder’s claim of reality is not only a balance of the contradiction between the intellect and sensibility, but it also via the linguistic turn, the anthropological turn, and hermeneutic turn, accomplishes his paradigm shift: from cognition to hermeneutics. Thus, it lays the foundation for the development of the early German hermeneutics, for philosophy of language and modern and contemporary hermeneutics.
