The development of local textbooks in Hebei over the past years has experienced the origin in the late Qing Dynasty, the exploration in the Republic of China and the diversification after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially after the reform and open. In the development process, it conforms to the need of society, reflects the demands of the times, and continuously enriches the content of the countryside and expands the educational objects. The textbook format and the main body of compilation have become more standardized, highlighting local characteristics. In the future the construction of local teaching materials should be based on the local soil, surpass the local soil, and play its irreplaceable value.
