In the narrative process of modern novels, authenticity is no longer the highest goal pursued by writers. The author purposely dissolves the plot and the established frame of time and space in the novel, and devotes himself to constructing delicate rhetoric and self-expression in the language. Many modern novels present an“unreasonable”narrative effect, thus facing readers’doubts about the authenticity of the novels. However,“unreasonable”narration does not mean that the novel itself is irrational and illogical. On the contrary,it realizes freer expression and deeper thinking and provides greater possibilities for readers’re-creation.Therefore,there is a need for a new definition of the criteria for evaluating the authenticity of modern novels.
