On the Religious Enlightenment of the Scottish Enlightenment

宗教是启蒙运动最复杂、最棘手的主题。在宗教启蒙上,苏格兰启蒙运动静水潜流,温和而又不失突破。苏格兰启蒙运动对“腐败的宗教”的批判与反思、对“真正的宗教”之启蒙与建构,卓有成效地使宗教回归本真,从而净化了宗教信仰。苏格兰启蒙运动另一重要的理论贡献是,进一步吸收与同化了科学文化,回应与解答了宗教祛魅之后的现代性世界如何可能的难题,有力地完成了宗教现代化课题。

Religion was the most complex and intractable subject of the Enlightenment.On the issue of religious enlightenment,the Scottish Enlightenment was still with undercurrent,gentle without losing groundbreaking.By criticizing and reflecting on the“corrupt religion”,and enlightening and constructing the“real religion”,the Scottish Enlightenment effectively makes religion return to its original nature,and thus purifies the religious belief.Another important theoretical contribution of the Scottish Enlightenment is to further absorb and assimilate the scientific revolution culture,and to respond and solve the problem involved in the existence of modern world after the disenchantment of religion.In a word,the Scottish Enlightenment effectively completed the task of religious modernization.
