Objective To provide the reference for domestic research on telemedicine management of diabetes by analyzing the status quo, research hotspots and development trends in papers on the application of telemedicine management in diabetes. Methods The cited journals, publication institutions, authors and research hotspots in the retrieved papers on telemedicine management of diabetes were analyzed by co-occurrence analysis after their title information was put into CiteSpace and visualized. Results The most frequently cited journal was Diabetes Care. The authors who published the papers could be grossly divided into 3 groups. The majority of institutions that published the papers on telemedicine management of diabetes were colleges and universities with a strong strength in scientific research. The research hotspots in papers on telemedicine management of diabetes experienced 3 changing periods, namely Internet period, remote monitoring period and diabetes education period. Conclusion Close collaborationand extensive communication are needed between researchers and research institutions.Remote monitoring, home remote nursing and diabetes education are the most representative research hotspots in recent papers on the application of telemedicine management in diabetes. The use of telemedicine techniques to improve the self-management of patients is still the trend in future research on telemedicine management of diabetes.
