The Textual Research on Wu Dacheng’s Letters to Weng Tonghe

故宫博物院藏有吴大澂致翁同龢信札8通,此前从未对外发布。这8通信札从时间上看,多作于吴大澂任湖南巡抚期间;从内容上看,主要涉及湖南地区与中央的财政问题、翁曾桂的职场前景、碑帖书画鉴赏交流等;从文献价值上看,对研究甲午之前的湖南社会状况、晚清官员的交往、补充《愙斋年谱》等,都有一定的意义。

The Palace Museum has a collection of 8 letters written by Wu Dacheng to Weng Tonghe,which have never been published.From the perspective of time,these letters were mainly written during Wu Dacheng as the Hunan governor.From the perspective of contents,these letters mainly focus on finance between Hunan and the central government,the career prospects of Weng Zenggui,the appreciation and exchange of calligraphy and painting on steles,etc.These letters are valuable for the study of the social situation of Hunan Province before 1894,the interaction of officials in the late Qing Dynasty,and the supplement of the contents of A Chronological Sketch of the Life of Wu Dacheng.
