The origin of yin-yang and five phases in TCM is in the ancient five-phases & ten-section calendar. This ancient calendar had been defined and applied since Yellow Emperor, Xia, Shang dynasty. The evidences have been found in ethnic minorities, for example yi minority, miao minority, lili minority and so on. The theory of yin-yang and five phases in TCM should not be attributed under the concept of philosophy, but should be restored to the ancient astronomical calendar. Finding out the root of yinyang and five phases in TCM, clarifying the same root but different applications and different contents of yin-yang and five phases between TCM and in the field of morality and politic, are the important subjects in the study of basic theory of TCM.
