Facial expression,as a very important non-verbal symbol,has been attached great importance in the film and television industry.Facial expression capture technology is also a hot research direction in recent ten years.This paper reviews the principle,development and application of facial expression capture technology.Through the specific film and television works in the film and television industry to show the action capture technology from the embryonic birth to the maturity of facial expression capture tech⁃nology and plays an important role in the film and television industry.Finally,the future role of facial expression capture technolo⁃gy in virtual reality is prospected,and the future research directions of facial expression capture technology,such as unmarked point facial capture technology and real-time facial expression presentation,are discussed,so as to improve readers'cognition of the potential of this technology.
