语义学视角下中国外交话语英译研究——以“2020外长答记者问”为例

The English Translation of Chinese Discourse on Diplomacy:A Semantic Study——Based on Full Transcript of Q&A from Foreign Minister Meeting the Press

英语中有许多短小精悍的小词,在翻译中能够散发出大能量。翻译外交话语时,巧增和活用小词可增加外交语言的生动性,增强译文的画面感和立体感,消解负面联想,提升外交表态力度,体现外交立场和分寸感,对塑造国家形象和维护国家利益起到积极的作用。

There are many small but significant words in English.This paper focuses on,from a perspective of semantics,the role small words may play in translating diplomatic discourse based on full transcript of Q&A from Foreign Minister meeting the press.The study reveals that small words can make the translations of diplomatic discourse more vivid with a better picture,dispel negative associations with the source language and make diplomatic stance firmer and that they can play a positive role in shaping national image and protecting national interest.
