During the pandemic of COVID-19,online teaching is now carried out in large-scale and worldwide, and related online teaching issues gradually become a new research topic. The traditional teaching method of geospatial related disciplines is mainly based on face to face teaching and learning.Although this method is relatively direct, there are still some challenges in assessing and promoting students’learning initiative.Online courses utilize web-interface as a teaching platform, which have merits of not being restricted by time and space,as well as become flexible and easy-to-learn.Therefore,this paper analyzes the online course,"Introduction to Urban Geo-Informatics",which provides conceptual ideas for the design of surveying and geospatial online courses;and provides an effective and efficient teaching and learning method for the special period when face-to-face teaching is not possible.
