Following the Five Flavors nourishment theory in Zhou Li"Salt nourishing vessels",Guan Zi originally proposed the pathogenic theory of"edema induced by salt-free diet",which has been inherited in many historical documents. After organizing through the relevant literature records,it is found that the swallowing caused by the low-salt diet mainly includes edema and simple goiter, which complement each other with the over-salt diet pathogenic theory emphasized in the Huang Di Nei Jing.Although progress has been made in the prevention of cardiovascular disease by the low-sodium and salt diet advocates in modern society,it does not mean that the less sodium and salt, the better.A long period of salt-free diet will lead to lacking appetite and fatigue. In severe cases,it can cause edema and threaten one′s life.
