Among the many theoretical issues involved in the case of algorithm discrimination of Deliveroo Italia S.R.L.,the core is whether the algorithm used by the platform of Deliveroo Italia S.R.L.discriminates against riders.The judgment of the Bologna court argued in depth from the perspectives of whether the rider is protected by anti-discrimination laws,the meaning of discrimination and the influence of algorithm on the rider.Finally,the Bologna court ruled that the algorithm used by the platform constitutes indirect discrimination and ordered Deliveroo to pay 50,000 to the applicants.The judgment is the first one against algorithmic discrimination in Europe,which is of great significance in identifying algorithmic discrimination,protecting riders'rights and confirming punitive damages.
