After the Industrial Revolution, a large number of peoplepoured into cities, while urban infrastructure was seriouslyinadequate. Crowded living conditions, bad sanitation and dirty airquality induced the epidemic of typhoid fever, cholera, dysenteryand tuberculosis. These realities promoted the construction ofurban parks. Politicians hoped to improve the urban environmentby increasing green space in cities, provide outdoor activitiesvenues, and reduce the occurrence of diseases. At the same time, people were also aware that a good environment could not onlyprevent the occurrence of diseases, but also play an important rolein the treatment of certain diseases, such as tuberculosis. Beforethe advent of antibiotics, tuberculosis was one of the most fataldiseases in European countries, and the only treatment was to letthe patient breathe fresh air and get more sunlight in a clean andbeautiful environment.
