As the second emperor of the Yuan Dynasty,Chengzong inherits the tradition of worshiping Buddha and building temples in the reign of Shizu.At the same time,he notices the important role of Mount Wutai as the sacred Mountain of Buddhism and the proper distance between Shangdu and Dadu.Out of personal filial piety and the reward for helping him ascend the throne,Chengzong has built a temple for his mother on Mount Wutai.By doing so he not only continues the thought of worshiping Buddha in the Yuan Dynasty,but also projects an image of good emperor for later generations.
