Yangzhou is one of the first 24 famous historical and cultural cities approved by the State Council.Its name was first seen in The Book of Documents,a Chinese classic that has put the city among the ranks of the nine major places of the Middle Kingdom.Another ancient book,The Commentary of Zuo,mentioned its convenient location and transportation 2,500 years ago.Throughout the ages,Yangzhou has been well-known for its long history,rich resources,cultural heritage,traditional gardens and prosperous local economy.It is an open city with inclusiveness,beauty and magnificence.As a critical junction of both the Land Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road,it has been committed to promoting culture and friendship to write a chapter of win-win cooperation of this new era.
