From Infra-structure to Infra-architecture Defining the Public-ness in the Design of Infrastructure

基础设施是城市的重要组成部分,维系着城市的日常运作,也占据了大量的土地和空间资源。随着建设土地的稀缺,我们应该寻求更好地利用或创造性地使用这些空间资源的策略。例如,城市和公众如何能够从这些基础设施的日常生产中受益,这种受益不仅指日常生活中的功能性使用,更多地是希望基础设施能成为城市公共体验和教育的场所。换言之,应该让日常性的基础设施超越原本工程学的范畴,有更多社会性以及美学属性。南沙原创十年来一直尝试从城市公共生活的角度,突破基础设施的工程学范畴,通过建筑本体的实践,让"无感"的基础设施成为"有趣"、富有体验感的城市空间和公共建筑。文章介绍的四个项目展示了这些年设计团队在该方向上的尝试。

Infrastructure is the most important part of a city,which maintains the normal operation of the city and often occupies prominent land and spatial resources.With the scarcity of construction land,we should seek strategies to better use or creatively use these spatial resources.For example,how can the city and the public benefit from the daily production of these infrastructures?Not only to serve the functional use of the urban daily life,these infrastructures,are also the public space,welcoming more diverse urban experience as well as becoming part of public education.In other words,beyond the engineering need,there are more social and aesthetic pursuits in the making of these infrastructures.For a decade,NODE has been trying to participate in the design of infrastructural architecture from the perspective of urban life.Through such a design practice,we try to transform the"senseless"infrastructure into the"attractive"space and public architecture for experience.
