摘要
本文从经典化、大众化视角对《哥伦比亚美洲小说史》加以解读,将布鲁姆关于文学经典的思想作为埃利奥特的文学经典思想的参照系,同时将弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫对待普通读者、文学市场的态度与“美国小说的经典化与大众化”谱系中的梅尔维尔、爱伦·坡、乔纳森·弗兰岑对待普通读者、文学市场的态度进行对比研究,揭示文学经典与普通读者、文学市场的互动关系,在文学谱系中找到作家作品研究的切入点,进而彰显本书在文学研究中的谱系价值。
From the perspectives of canonization and popularization,this paper interprets The Columbia History of the American Novel by taking Harold Bloom's theory of literary canon as the reference of Elliot's theory of literary canon,compares Virginia Woolf's attitude towards the common reader and the literary market with Melville's,Allan Poe's,and Jonathan Franzen's,reveals the interactive relationship between the literary canon and the common reader and the literary market,and finds the proper approaches to study writers and their literary works in the literary genealogy,thus foregrounding this book's genealogical values in literary studies.
