社交媒体时代传统媒体和公民新闻的博弈——以“杨达才事件”为例

Traditional News Media and Citizen Journalism on China's Social Media:A Case Study of“Watch Brother”Yang Dacai

社交媒体的出现颠覆性地改变了传统新闻生态。为了应对新技术所带来的挑战,几乎所有的传统新闻媒体都与社交媒体进行了融合。与此同时,借助社交媒体的传播优势,公民新闻在中国迅速崛起。因此,研究新媒体环境下传统新闻媒体如何与公民个体争夺新闻话语权显得十分重要。本文以2012年的“杨达才事件”为例,从报道体量、报道时效和报道用语特点三个方面对新闻媒体和个人的报道进行了对比分析。研究发现,相较于个人,新闻媒体的报道体量有限、存在一定的滞后性,报道用语严肃拘谨、缺乏独创性。本文认为,传统新闻媒体和公民新闻具有很强的互补性,传统新闻媒体应顺应时下公民新闻的热潮,从自身进行变革,以更好地适应新媒体时代新闻事业发展的要求。

The advent of social media has brought overwhelming changes to the traditional news media industry.To meet the challenges,almost every news institution has begun a process of media convergence.Meanwhile,by virtue of the open and equal platform provided by social media,citizen journalism is thriving in China.Therefore,it is of great significance to investigate how professional journalists both coordinate and compete with citizen journalists in covering news stories.Drawing upon a Sina Weibo-based case study of“watch brother”Yang Dacai,this article compares the practices of news reporting by news institutional users to those by ordinary individuals.It shows that individual users are the active and staple players on social media platforms.News institutional users by contrast only produce marginal proportion of news reports which are not up-to-the-minute and insufficient of editorial initiative.This article suggests that citizen journalism to some extent is complimentary to traditional news media.Therefore,instead of being a competitor,traditional news media should make efforts to adapt to the rise of citizen journalism and changes brought by the new media age.
