小议科幻小说的术语翻译问题——从《三体》法译本谈起

On Terminology Translation in Science Fiction:A Case Study of the French Translation of The Three-body Problem

术语是科幻小说科学性构建的基础,其翻译直接影响该文类外译的质量与效果。刘慈欣的小说三部曲《三体》于2016年被引入法国,译者关首奇凭借高度的术语意识,通过积极的知识储备、细致的翻译工作以及与相关专业人士的合作,力求再现作家笔下逻辑严密的“三体”世界。其译本也获得了法国读者及评论界的高度关注与赞扬。本文以术语翻译为切入点,通过中英法三个译本的对比,试图描绘译者术语翻译的全过程,就科幻小说的术语翻译问题做出一些思考。

The scientificity of science fiction highly relies upon its use of terminology.Terminology translation affects directly the quality and the effect of science fiction s translation.Liu Cixin s trilogy The Three-body Problem was introduced to France in 2016.Its translator Gwenna l Gaffric has demonstrated a high degree of consciousness of terminology.With his active preparation and rich knowledge reserve,meticulous translation work and cooperation with relevant professionals,Gaffric succeeds in reproducing logically fabricated“three-body”world under the pen of Liu.It has received high attention and praise from readers and critics.By means of the comparison of the original with its French and English translations,this research focuses on the translation of terminology,in order to present the whole process of the translation,and at the same time,provide insights into the particularities of terminology translation with respect to the text of science fiction.
