This study investigates community lexicons in Shanghai,including the definition of"community lexicon,,the difference between"community lexicon,and"dialectal lexicon"the reasons for the rise of community lexicon,as well as the illustrations of community lexicons'classification in Shanghai,the comparison and contrast of community lexicons'used in Shanghai,Taipei,and Hong Kong.In terms of function,community lexicons are believed to be in the intermediate state between Mandarin and dialectal lexicons.
