Ancient and Modern Antiphon:An Epic of Ethnic Integration and Unity

广西是民族团结的典范地区。历史上,广西各少数民族之间,以及他们与汉民族之间交流密切,文化互通。广西仫佬族“古条歌”《古今对唱》是对民族交融团结的史诗性咏叹。《古今对唱》叙述了从盘古开天辟地到近现代中国这一个时间跨度无比巨大的历史过程。《古今对唱》歌颂了远古传说故事中的祖先神,也展示了进入文字—文明时代后中华民族的真实历史,记录了那些曾经叱咤风云的历史人物,也引述了汉民族文字经典中创造的艺术形象。仫佬族非常认同汉民族及其他民族的历史,《古今对唱》等“古条歌”也主要用汉民族语言演唱,而且有意识地在重要的场合演唱,从而起到凝聚民众的作用,形成他们对中华民族共同体的认同感、归属感。《古今对唱》呈现了仫佬族等各民族交流融合的历史进程,在当今也成为民族交融团结的见证。

Guangxi is a model area of ethnic unity.Historically,ethnic minorities in Guangxi kept close communications and cultural exchanges among themselves and with Han people.The Ancient and Modern Antiphon of Mulao ethnic group in Guangxi is an epic for ethnic integration and unity.The epic narrates the historical process with a large time span from the beginning of the world created by Pan Gu(the creator of the universe in Chinese mythology)to modern China.It eulogizes the ancestral gods in an⁃cient legends and shows the historical truth of the Chinese nation after the invention of writing and other civilization era.It also records the well-known historical figures and quotes the artistic characters created in the literary classics of the Han nationality.Mulao ethnic group highly recognizes the history of Han and other ethnic groups.Ancient songs such as Ancient and Modern Antiphon are also mainly sung in Han lan⁃guage.Such songs are often arranged to be performed on important occasions to boost cohesion among the public and form common identity and sense of belonging for the Chinese nation.Ancient and Modern Anti⁃phon represents the exchanges and integrations among different ethnic groups including Mulao in the his⁃tory and witnesses the ethnic integration and unity in modern times.
