林纾译作书名的批评话语分析

Critical Discourse Analysis of the Titles of Lin Shu’s Translations

以批评话语分析理论为指导,运用社会文化语境分析法,阐释林纾译作书名蕴含的翻译思想及其社会意义。一方面,从外文原著的选择和译作书名的翻译策略方面,考察林纾如何在翻译过程中表达自己的观点和意识形态,从而揭示特定历史背景下的林纾翻译思想对译作话语产生的影响;另一方面,描述林译书名的文体特征,分析“古文”这一特殊文体所承载的译者意识形态和翻译思想。研究显示译者意识形态对其翻译行为的操控,以及其翻译作品对社会文化的潜在意义。研究结果可为林纾翻译研究及对林纾的客观评价提供参考。

Based on the theory of critical discourse analysis,the analytical method of socio-cultural context is used to elucidate the translation thoughts implied in the titles of Lin Shu’s translations and their social significance.On the one hand,from the perspective of selecting the original works and translating the titles of the works,this paper explores how Lin Shu conveyed his own views and ideologies in the process of translation,and thus to reveal the influence of Lin Shu’s translational ideologies on his translated works in the specific historical background.On the other hand,it describes the stylistic features of the titles of Lin’s translations,and analyzes his ideology and translation thoughts carried by the special“ancient style”.This study shows that the translator’s ideology controls his translation behavior,and that his translations have potential significance for the society and culture.The results of this study provide reference for studies on Lin Shu’s translations,and for evaluating Lin Shu objectively.
