中英社会科学期刊论文标题的词汇句法特征比较

Lexical and Syntactic Features of Research Article Titles in Chinese and International Social Science Journals

结合定量统计和定性文本分析,基于自建语料库对社会科学领域的中文和国际英语期刊发表的原创研究论文的英语标题进行了标题长度、词汇密度、高频词、高频词块等词汇特征和标题结构的比较分析。结果表明,中文期刊标题与英语期刊标题在词汇密度和主导的句法结构上无明显差异,但在标题长度、高频词和高频词块的类别及复现频数、部分句法结构的构建形式和次类别上差异显著。这些发现为国内社会科学学者拟定和英译学术论文标题提供了启示和参考。

Applying quantitative statistics and qualitative textual analysis to self-built corpus,this article compares the length,lexical density,highly recurrent vocabularies and lexical bundles,and syntactic structure of English research article titles published in Chinese and international English social science journals.The findings indicate that there is no marked difference in the lexical density and dominant syntactic structure,but there are significant differences in the length,the categories and frequencies of highly recurrent vocabularies and lexical bundles,and the construction forms and subcategories of some syntactic structures between the two types of titles.These findings provide implications and reference for Chinese social science scholars who write and translate Chinese article titles into English ones.
