Irony is a popular art technique in the West, which is highly praised by the British and American New Criticism. It is gradually sublimated from artistic technique to creative thinking and artistic style. When Lu Xun created modern prose poetic drama, his genre, form and artistic style were completely different from that of other writers at the same time. His modern prose poetic drama had the features of restrained irony, tragedy irony and paradox irony, forming a unique style of irony art. The application of irony art has endowed Lu Xun’s modern prose poetic drama with a characteristic of rational, contemplative yet dialectical thinking.
