大规模交通基础设施建设会降低全国范围内的通行成本,提高国内市场一体化程度,成为扩大内循环、实现经济高质量发展的重要基础。本文构建市场可达性指标并匹配工业企业数据库和海关数据库,考察交通基础设施引起的国内市场一体化对企业出口产品质量的影响。研究发现,国内市场一体化显著提升了企业出口产品质量。利用明代驿路作为工具变量,本文确证了这一因果关系。市场一体化的出口产品质量提升效应主要来源于差异化产品和向发达国家市场出口的产品。本文的研究为验证交通基础设施建设的社会经济效益提供了来自产品质量提升视角的证据。

The large-scale construction of China’s transportation infrastructure has promoted Chinese domestic market integration throughout the country,which has become an important foundation for the high-quality development of China’s economy. Based on national transportation network dataset,we build a market access indicator to measure domestic market integration induced by transportation infrastructure,and use the matched data of Chinese custom data and industrial enterprises data to study the effect of market access on firms’ export product quality. We find that market integration caused by transportation infrastructure construction significantly improves the export product quality of enterprises,which is robust after the application of model specification and variable measurement. With the Post Road of Ming Dynasty as the instrumental variable to solve the endogeneity problem,the causal relationship is confirmed. Further research shows that the effect of market integration on improving the quality of export products mainly comes from differentiated products and exports to developed markets. Our study provides evidence from the perspective of product quality to verify the social and economic benefits of transportation infrastructure construction.
