Objective To explore the applicability of the flip classroom model based on micro-lectures in standardized orthopaedic training amid COVID-19.MethodsTwenty interns rotating in the Department of Orthopaedics between February and May 2020 were randomly selected as the experimental group while another 20 interns rotating in the same period of 2019 were randomly selected as the control group. The conventional teaching method was adopted in the experimental group while the flip classroom approach based on microlectures was used in the control group.ResultsThere was no statistically significant difference in the collection of disease history, specialized health checkups, operation skills or theoretical knowledge between the two groups(P>0. 05). The scores of cognitive self-evaluation in the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, and the difference was of statistical difference(P<0. 05).ConclusionThe flip classroom model based on micro-lectures in standardized orthopaedic training under COVID-19 has a good prospect of application, which also needs to be improved in order to enhance the interns’ ability for self-study and improve the effect of teaching.
