摘要
Researches has been conducted for decades to understand the mechanisms involved in different diabetic complications.Diabetic neuropathy,being one of the complications has been studied extensively.A mass of studies is found to be related to diabetic neuropathy,but much less concludes the studies conducted.This review will therefore be briefly explaining the mechanisms contributing to diabetic neuropathy by collecting information from many studies conducted.Four main mechanisms causing oxidative stress and apoptotic consequences on neurons will be discussed below,including polyol pathway,advanced glycation end products,protein kinase C and hexosamine pathway.
