The Function of "Mo" in Folklore

馍,一般称为馒头。它是一种食品,却寄寓着无穷的文化意蕴。在整理和挖掘其文化意义的过程中,我们发现,除了食用之年,人类还给它附会上了许多神话、传说的意思。这就使得一个普通的馍,有了其他非实用性的作用。这中间,有对神话中补天、开天辟地的纪念,有哺乳之用的生殖崇拜,还有禳灾去病等迷信色彩。从此看,它有着迷人的社会文化之功用。

Mo,commonly known as steamed bread. It is a kind of food,but it contains infinite cultural implication. Studies have found humans have attached many myths and legends to it. There are the memorial of mending the sky and making the world in the myth,the worship of reproduction with lactation,and the superstition color of Ruang disaster to disease. Mo has fascinating social and cultural functions.
