Multidimensional Ecological Discourse Analysis of News Discourses in the New Era

本文以新时代生态文明观为指导思想,以系统功能语言学理论为理论框架,采用有益性话语的生态研究方法,从语域、语类、及物性过程和态度系统等层面对《光明数字报》的特别报道《魅力沈阳,在水一方》进行了多维度的生态话语分析,考察有益性话语与生态文明观的契合程度并归纳出新时代生态文明观观照下有益性话语的语言特点。基于对语料的生态分析,本研究认为新时代新闻话语应具有系统性、相关性、正向性和客观性等特点。

Ecolinguistics steps onto the stage under the background of deteriorating ecological environment and increasingly prominent ecological issues.In the past forty years,it has developed from a metaphor to a sound discipline.Ecological discourse analysis is constructed under Halliday’s model of Eco linguistics.Analysis of ecological consciousness in discourses and due attention to the ecological environment of language and human existence will not only contribute to the awakening of people’s ecological consciousness, but also establishes itself a promising direction of ecological linguistics research at present.Based on the concept of "Awareness of Conservation" in the new era and the theoretical framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics,this paper selects an ecological news report Attractive Shenyang at the Riverside on Guangming Digitals as the corpus and makes a multidimen sional ecolo gical discourse analysis from aspects of register,genre,transitivity,and attitudinal system.U sing the ecological research method for beneficial discourse,this paper aims to investigate the degree of agreement between beneficial discourses and "Awareness of Conservation",summing up the linguistic features of such beneficial discourse under the perspective of ecological civilization in the new era,and presenting clearly the linguistic features of media discourse in the new era that conforms to the concept of ecological civilization.T his paper follows the procedure of beneficial discourse analysis proposed by Stibbe,namely,first collecting corpus and observing the language features of the corpus,then disclosing the hidden ecological ideology behind the discourses,and finally making a comparative analysis with the analysts’ ecological values.Within the grand project of ecological civilization construction,this paper regards ecological civilization as an ecological philosophy.In view of the purpose of beneficial discourse research,that is,to promote and disseminate it as a new way to tell stories about the world,this paper lays emphasis on corpus analysis so that the linguistic features of media discourse in line with the view of ecological civilization could be explored thoroughly and the significance of the present research be highlighted.The analysis shows:in news discourse,ecological civilization finds its manifestation in register,genre structure,transitivity process,and attitude resources.As far as individual cases are concerned,the view of ecological civilization does not exist in isolation in one aspect,but is systematically reflected in the above aspects.Furthermore,in beneficial discourse clauses,participants in transitivity process and agents in action process should give priority to objective entities,including some environmental components and attributes.The attitude resources of the discourses are mainly appreciation and evaluation,thus avoiding the subjectivity that emotional resources may cause and the introduction or description of nature reflects the objectivity of participants in the discourses as well.In addition,beneficial discourse does not completely exclude the negative value of attitude resources;instead,it dominates the entire field of discourse.For those that conform to the view of ecological civilization,the overall attitude resources are positive.In short,this paper holds that beneficial discourse in news discourse is constructed with the concept of ecological civilization as the core,and that systematicity,relevance,positiveness and objectivity are the distinguishing features of beneficial discourses in media reports in the new era.
