As an important part of the daily life of the Russian aristocracy,the ball is often described by writers in the 19^(th)century.The ball in literature is not only a social and cultural space,but also has its own time form.Bakhtin’s theory of chronotope provides a new perspective for studying this phenomenon.In literary works,the ball has a unique function.It is a place to show the style of the times,a place to show emotional disputes,a place to show characters"meeting",a place to present the"test"plot,and it bears the heavy responsibility of reproducing society and life.
