人民民主专政理论是毛泽东思想的重要部分,也是以毛泽东同志为代表的中国共产党人在革命实践中将马克思主义关于无产阶级专政理论同近代中国国情相结合的理论成果。毛泽东同志在认识近代中国国情的基础上,吸收了马克思主义关于无产阶级专政思想,形成了人民民主专政理论。其主体是人民、核心是中国共产党的领导、方法是民主和专政、实质是中国化的无产阶级专政。社会主义新中国已进入新时代,但社会主义社会到共产主义社会的过渡还未完成,所以,人民民主专政不仅不能忽视,反而更要重视。
