印度当代著名英语作家罗斯金·邦德是一位心系自然保护和儿童福祉的作家。在短篇小说《樱桃树》中,邦德浓墨书写男孩(儿童)与樱桃树(自然)的密切关系,展现樱桃树的顽强生命以及曲折的成长历程,颂扬男孩对樱桃树的悉心关爱和保护,凸显男孩在陪伴樱桃树成长的过程中日益增强的生态意识。《樱桃树》实为一篇难得的儿童生态文学佳作。
As a contemporary Indian English writer,Ruskin Bond is concerned with both nature conservation and children's welfare.In the short story The Cherry Tree,Bond writes about the close relationship between the boy(child)and the cherry tree(nature),shows the cherry tree's resilience and tortuous growth,celebrates the boy's care and protection of the tree,and highlights the boy's growing eco-awareness as he accompanies the growing of the tree.The Cherry Tree is indeed a rare piece of children's eco-literature.
