A new porthole die structure named protection type with four cavities in a die for semi-hollow Al-profiles was presented.Through a practical case,the determination of parameters for the new structure were described,mainly including the structure compo⁃nent,the design of portholes,the structure of chamber in female die and the selection of bearing.This new split structure with one-mode with four-cavity breaks the traditional two-piece structure and adopts the form of three-piece,which is simple and easy to process.The practical application shows that the new structure can greatly improve the efficiency of the extrusion machine and signifi⁃cantly prolong the die life.Furthermore,the high precision and the surface brightness of profiles are obtained.The structure is worth of promoting.
