The Origin and Evolution of the Public Opinion Function of Chinese Self-run Newspapers and Periodicals in the Late Qing Dynasty

综观中国近代报刊发展史,国人自办报刊的舆论功能并不是天然具备的,它产生并发展于晚清时期。晚清进步人士积极争取言论出版自由、推动实现新闻立法是中国近代国人办报办刊的基础,也是国人自办报刊舆论功能出现与完善的前提。晚清国人自办报刊舆论功能的实践与发展,则集中体现在其对报刊舆论功能的认识和研究当中。以上两个方面共同构成了晚清国人自办报刊舆论功能的演进轨迹。

Looking at the development history of modern Chinese newspapers and periodicals,the public opinion function of Chinese self-run newspapers and periodicals is not natural.It came into being and developed in the late Qing Dynasty.The progressive people in the late Qing Dynasty actively fought for the freedom of speech and press,and promoted the realization of press legislation,which was the basis for Chinese people to run newspapers and periodicals in modern times,and also the premise for the emergence and improvement of the public opinion function of Chinese people’s own newspapers and periodicals.In the late Qing Dynasty,the practice and development of the public opinion function of Chinese self-run newspapers and periodicals were mainly reflected in their understanding and research of the public opinion function of newspapers and periodicals.The above two aspects constitute the evolution track of the public opinion function of the Chinese self-run newspapers and periodicals in the late Qing Dynasty.
