Grey literature has important academic value,historical value and document value for university teaching and scientific research.Developed countries attach great importance to the collection of grey literature,which has been brought into strategic height.This paper investigates the current situation of the construction of grey document resources in American university libraries,analyzes the characteristics of grey document collection,grey document organization and service,and grey document resources protection in American university libraries,and points out the enlightenment of the construction of grey document in America to our country.
