《清翁方纲题李东阳像罗聘补竹》图考

A Study of the Painting Li Dong yang’s Portrait with Weng Fanggang’s Inscription and the Supplement of Bamboo by Luo Pin

《翁方纲题李东阳像罗聘补竹》图轴原题《清法式善画李东阳像罗聘补竹图》,现藏台北故宫博物院。本图在翁方纲举行纪念苏轼生日的寿苏会至少展示过两次(1794年、1797年),在法式善为纪念李东阳的生日雅集展示过一次(1780年),深具历史意义。本文探讨本图的画题、创制过程、图像来源、题跋及其内在意涵。研究发现:本图的画题应该作《清王穆峰画李东阳像罗聘补竹》图轴,王穆峰所画李东阳像绘于1777年,以《甲申十同年图》上的李东阳像为依据。罗聘补竹于1794年,和李东阳画像组合装帧于1794年。本图与翁方纲收藏李东阳《种竹诗卷》及沈周绘《移竹图诗卷》有关。虽然画面上没有苏轼,但是从题跋得知"种竹"的意象源于苏轼,翁方纲制作本图的用意也在纪念苏轼。

Collected in the Taipei Palace Museum, the painting Li Dongyang’s Portrait with Weng Fanggang’s Inscription and the Supplement of Bamboo by Luo Pin was once named Li Dongyang’s Portrait Painted by Fa Shishan with the Supplement of Bamboo by Luo Pin. This painting of profound historical significance was shown in 1794 and 1797 in the Commemoration of Su Shi’s Birthday held by Weng Fanggang and in 1780 in the Gathering on Li Dongyang’s Birthday held by Fa Shishan. The title, creation process, source of image, inscriptions, and underlying meanings of the painting are discussed in this article. In the research, the current author finds that the title of this painting should be Li Dongyang’s Portrait Painted by Wang Mufeng with the Supplement of Bamboo by Luo Pin. Wang Mufeng painted Li Dongyang’s portrait in 1777, based on Li Dongyang’s image in The Painting of Ten Imperial Scholars of the Jiashen Year. Luo Pin supplemented the bamboo in 1794 and mounted with Li Dongyang’s portrait in 1794. This painting is related to Li Dongyang’s Fourteen Poems on Planting Bamboo in Weng Fanggang’s collection and Shen Zhou’s Poems on Paintings of Moving Bamboo. Although Su Shi is absent from the painting, according to the inscriptions it is known that the imagery of "planting bamboo" originated from Su Shi, and Weng Fanggang’s intention to create this painting was also to commemorate Su Shi.
