Yin and yang are two opposing aspects of all things and phenomena in nature, which is the theoretical basis for traditional Chinese medicine to recognize and summarize all physiological phenomena and pathological changes in the human body. The yin-qi and yang-qi are the least likely to be unbalanced. If they are balanced, they are harmonious and good for human beings, otherwise they are deadly harmful to them, and thus the dynamic balance should be maintained all the time under normal circumstances. The theory of“yang being often in excess while yin being often in deficiency”was proposed by Zhu Danxi,a famous medical scientist during the Jin and Yuan Dynasties.Although the modern disease spectrum is much more different than that in the past, because it is affected by changes of natural climate and environment, changes in diet and lifestyle as well as in mental and emotional factors.According to the nature and characteristics of epidemiology, the theory of“yang being often in excess while yin being often in deficiency”is still a common phenomenon and pathological basis in natural sciences and social medicine,so we should take care of yin and yang and maintain its balance.
