摘要
X射线(X-ray)于1896年传入中国之后,基于音译、意译、形译和字母词等方式产生的多种中文译名之所以长期并存和混用,是由于与中国传统文化相异的西方科学文化在中国传播和接收时,引起了不同的理解和对接。直到"X射线"成为被专业共同体和社会所公认的X-ray中文译名,才完成跨文化传播的概念对应。X射线译名的整合或"规范化"过程,成为一个中西文化交汇融通的具体案例,体现了科学家共同体以及大众在西方科学的跨文化传播和科学本土化进程中的影响和作用。
X-rays were introduced into China in 1896, and its Chinese translated term included those based on transliteration, meant to express its utilities, using a Chinese character similar to X in shape, and that combined the western letter X itself with Chinese characters. Varieties of Chinese translations for X-rays coexisted and were widely used for a long time. The phenomenon was caused by the different understanding and connection of Western science and culture which was different from Chinese traditional culture when it was spread and received in China. After the official name of X shexian was confirmed by professional community and society, the conceptual correspondence was completed, which was an important part of intercultural communication. The nomenclature and evolution of the Chinese names for X-rays, not only served as a specific case for the converge of Chinese and Western cultures, but also reflect the different effects and functions of the scientific community and the public in the process of intercultural communication and scientific localization of Western science.
