翻译转换理论指导下的石油英语翻译

Petroleum English Translation Guided by Translation Conversion Theory

随着世界经济一体化的迅猛发展和人类工业对化石燃料的不断需求,各国石油企业之间的交流与合作愈发频繁。石油行业工作者人员在开展跨国合作、交流时,面临着不少的挑战,石油英语翻译的重要性日益凸显。文章根据钻井英语的特点,结合著名翻译家卡特福德提出的“翻译转换”这一重要概念及及其翻译方法,通过举例分析石油英语的词汇和句法特点及翻译技巧,探讨翻译转换理论对石油英语汉译的指导作用,为石油钻井的跨国合作提供便利,也可为高校研究项目和研究学者提供参考。

With the rapid development of world economic integration and the continuous demand of human industry for fossil fuels,the exchanges and cooperation between oil companies in various countries are becoming more and more frequent.Oil industry workers are faced with many challenges when carrying out transnational cooperation and exchange,and the importance of oil English translation is becoming increasingly prominent.According to the characteristics of drilling English,this paper analyzes the lexical and syntactic characteristics and translation techniques of petroleum English with examples under the guidance of Catford’s translation shifts theory,and discusses the guiding role of the translation theory for Chinese translation of petroleum English,so as to facilitate the transnational cooperation in petroleum drilling and provide reference for university research projects and scholars.
