The Channels and Contents of Spreading Chinese Communist Ideas: The Founding and Impact of the Early Party Press

中国共产党历来重视新闻宣传工作,创办报刊是党的革命事业的重要组成部分。在20世纪20年代以来的传媒格局中,党在创建前后发挥新闻宣传的阶级舆论工具作用,传播思想、凝聚人心,创办了中共中央机关报刊以及面向工农群众的各级各类报刊。党的早期报刊以宣传马克思列宁主义及党的纲领路线方针政策、组织工农群众、开展革命斗争等为使命,不仅为促进中国共产党的成立、领导推翻军阀的革命作出了重要贡献,而且继承发展了马克思、恩格斯、列宁办报思想,为中国共产党新闻事业的发展奠定了基础。

The CPC has always attached importance to press and publicity, and establishing newspapers and periodicals was an important part of the Party’s revolutionaryundertaking. In the media landscape since the 1920 s, the Party, before and after its official estamblishmet, founded newspapers and periodicals ofcentral organs as well as various newspapers and magazines at all levels for the workers and peasants, giving full play to the role of news media asa class opinion tool. With the mission of publicizing Marxism-Leninism and the programme, line and policy of the CPC, organising the workersand peasants, and carrying out revolutionary struggles, the Party’s early newspapers not only made important contributions to promoting thefounding of the CPC and leading the revolution to overthrow the warlords, but also inherited and developed the ideas of Marx, Engels and Lenin inrunning newspapers, laying the foundation for the development of the CPC’s journalism.
