Metaphor in English News and Its Chinese Translation

隐喻作为一种修辞手法在英语新闻中应用广泛。作为一种认知方法,隐喻是通过一个事物来理解另一个事物,有助于作者生动地表达自己的意图,也能使读者更容易领会作者的意图。从介绍国内外隐喻研究入手,以笔者收集的英语新闻中含有隐喻的句子为例,从认知角度来分析探讨英语新闻中隐喻的汉译,提出直译、意译和增译等策略。

Metaphor is widely employed in English news as a figure of speech.As a cognitive approach,metaphor is to understand one thing in terms of another,helping the writer to express his intention vividly and making it easier for the reader to grasp the writer's intention.By introducing the home and abroad research on metaphor,taking the collected sentences with metaphor in English news as an example,this paper analyzes the translation of metaphor in English news form the cognitive perspective and proposes some translation strategies such as literal translation,liberal translation and additional translation.
