Taking the reconstruction of old industrial plant in the eastern suburb of Chengdu as an example, this thesis analyzes the significance of the diversion and shelter of the space transformation of the old industrial base. The transformation from the state-owned factory workshop to the post-modern art space is not only the transformation of space, but also the production of “memory”. On the one hand, cultural and creative industries replace heavy industrial machinery production and complete the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure. This is a myth about the old industrial system “bathing blood and rebirth”;on the other hand, on the bleak industrial ruins, a kind of consumption-oriented middle class aesthetic interest quietly reshapes the urban landscape and dominates the understanding of contemporary society.
