摘要
研究通过文本分析、学生访谈和问卷调查,探究了在线讨论对英语专业学生批判性思维能力的影响。结果表明:(1)教师在讨论前制定明确的讨论指导原则,并能够在讨论过程中通过开放式提问引导学生参与讨论,是在线讨论能够促进学生批判性思维能力提升的重要条件;(2)学生普遍缺乏事实性知识阻碍了他们发展和运用批判性思维能力,掌握更多事实性知识并练习使用这些事实性知识是学生进一步发展批判性思维能力的基础。
This study aims to provide insights into the use of online discussion on developing college students’critical thinking skills.The results of the study indicate that online discussion does help students develop critical thinking if the instructor has clear guidelines about the discussion and is capable of guiding students through the discussion by asking openended questions.Nevertheless,students still face a big challenge when using critical thinking.In fact,they have not yet acquired sufficient factual knowledge which is key to the acquisition of the skills.Students should be encouraged to gain factual knowledge in different fields and apply the knowledge to be better critical thinkers.
