华夏古典修辞学奠基作《文心雕龙》问世一千四百年后,1932年诞生了《修辞学发凡》,标志着中国修辞学由古典到现代、由摹外到自立的华丽转型。《修辞学发凡》以《文心雕龙》为沃壤,植根于华夏,立足于语言本位,以崭新的知识、科学的解释、完整的体系,培养和教育了一代代的莘莘学子,向普罗大众输送了丰富的学养。《修辞学发凡》留下的遗憾是未能将语体(genre)与风格(style)区分开来,也未能将其研究引向深入。

In 1932,a thousand and four hundred years after the foundation of the Chinese classical rhetoric WenXin DiaoLong was published,An Introduction to Rhetoric came out,marking the great transformation of Chinese rhetoric from classical to modern,from imitation to independence.Rooted in China and based on the language standard,An Introduction to Rhetoric takes WenXin DiaoLong as a basis,trains and educates generations of students with new knowledge,scientific explanation,and a complete system,which has provided a wealth of knowledge to general public.The regret left by An Introduction to Rhetoric is that it failed to distinguish genre from style and deepen its research.
