《李尔王》与《五女拜寿》:差异中的“孝”

The Difference in the Concept of“Filial Piety”in King Lear and Celebrating Father's Birthday

莎剧《李尔王》的故事主线是家庭问题,而且主要是“孝”(父亲、子女间)、“悌”(兄弟、姐妹间)问题,而顾锡东的《五女拜寿》是《李尔王》的“中国化”改编,被评论家称为“中国式的《李尔王》”。从某些角度讲,《李尔王》契合了中国传统道德文化中的忠孝观,但其思想内涵不同。

Shakespeare’s King Lear focuses on family issues,especially on issues of filiation(that between father and child)and fraternity(that between brother and sister).Gu Xidong5s Celebrating Fath ers Birthday(Wunv Baishou)is an adaptation of King Lear in Chinese context,which has been called by critics as“King Lear of China”.In some ways,the idea of King Lear conforms to that of loyalty and filial piety in traditional Chinese moral culture,but their connotations are different.From the perspective of“filial piety”in King Lear and Celebrating Father’s Birthday,this paper tries to compare and analyze the difference between“filial piety”in King Lear and that in Celebrating Father’s Birthday.
